About About

What should I expect?

The classes are all choreographed to music. We generally use 15-16 songs per class that are purposefully arranged in four segments. We start with a 6-8 minute warm up segment designed to loosen joints and warm up major and minor muscle groups.

We proceed to the aerobic segment, usually around 30 minutes, with the songs gradually increasing in intensity, then decreasing in intensity as the aerobic segment winds down.

Following the aerobic segment is our strength training portion of the class. There we tone and strengthen muscles using hand weights and bands. Strength routines work abdominals, core, gluteals, inner and outer thigh, and upper torso. This usually lasts 15 – 20minutes.

Class always ends with a final stretch and cool down segment, which lasts about 5 minutes.

What are your students like?

We have a very nice group of health conscious women and men who attend our classes. Our students range in age from their early 20’s to their 70’s. We welcome all ages, sizes and fitness levels. Classes are “follow the leader” style, with each student working at their own intensity level. There are high and low intensity options demonstrated in every class. We hope our students will challenge thenselves individually at every class.

What are the facilities like?

We have two facilities: Ben Franklin Elementary School in Franklin (p.m. classes) and Hales Corners Lutheran School (a.m. classes). Ben Franklin is in the multi-purpose room of the school and has plenty of room to move. Hales Corners Lutheran School has a suspended hardwood floor on its basketball court, and the court is huge. It has its own built in stage and sound system.

What is the music like?

We work with a constantly changing playlist of 15 -16 songs.  We generally change a couple of songs in any given class, and new songs are kept in class for about two weeks  Music is always changing to keep class fresh and students from getting bored.

The music covers a variety of genres, many of which can be heard on the radio or on TV.

Where can I attend classes?

There are many facilities in the Milwaukee and Waukesha area that hold classes at different times. The instructors in this area generally let students from our class attend their classes without charge. Some of my students keep spare exercise clothes in their car, and if their job requires them to be in a different area of the city at the end of the workday, they attend classes elsewhere. Talk to our instructors for more information or directions.

How often do people attend class?

While some students’ schedules only allow them to attend one or two classes a week, many people attend three to four classes per week. All class passes allow unlimited attendance at our classes.

What Should I bring?

Hand weights (2 to 5 pounds), a floor mat and water bottle. It is a good idea to bring a pair of exercise shoes that you can use just for class. That way, you will not be exercising on wet shoes if it is raining or snowing outside. The best style of shoe is cross trainers or fitness shoes.

When Should I arrive?

For your first class, arrive about 15 minutes early, to register for class and complete paperwork. After that, you just need to arrive in time to be able to change into your workout shoes and/or clothes.

What is the cost?

Most students choose the EFT (electronic fund transfer) option of paying for classes. EFT costs $35 per month and students enjoy unlimited classes. There is also a one time joining fee of $25 for new students. We also offer an 8 week class pass that costs the student $84. Throughout the year, we occasionally offer special pricing with a reduced monthly fee.  Refer to the news section on my home page for pricing specials.

Will I be sore afterwards?

Anytime you change an exercise routine, your muscles will be sore. Within a couple of weeks, you should be loosened up and feeling great.
